SUNSET POINT ANIMAL HOSPITALOffice Manager
Kathy was born and bred in Bradenton, Florida. She considers SPAH a "family" in addition to her husband Mike of 30 years, her five children, her 13 grandchildren, and her one great-grandchild. Boredom is never a word uttered from her mouth while she is at the hospital since everyday is different.
Kathy describes her two cats, Frank and Leon as "find me" pets. Frank was brought into the clinic as a very young kitten. He had been hit by a car and had a broken tail, as well as some other bumps and bruises. Poor Leon was found in a ditch with two other litter mates and was fortunate to find a forever home with Kathy.
Being a "SPORTS FAN" (go Gators) and spending time enjoying birthday parties with her family keeps Kathy busy when she is not working at the hospital.
Veterinary Technicians
Sue was born and raised in Westbrook, Ct. with both parents, an older sister, a brother, and whatever dog or cat seemed to need a home. After graduating and getting married, Sue's son John was born. Sue is proud to say her son served in the US Army with four years of active duty, two of which were overseas.
After graduating high school, getting married, and having a child, Sue's family moved to Florida and that is when Sue began her college eduation in a Veterinary Technician program. After graduating with her degree, Sue began work in veterinary hospitals. SPAH is proud to say that in 2012 Sue will have her 20th anniversary with the hospital! She loves the career she chose because each day she can help brighten the mood of a pet and the family members of the animal. Helping others makes Sue happy and leaves a feeling that each day is complete.
There are many reasons Sue has been a part of Sunset Point, but the main reason is because of the excellent care and honest treatment that is given by each and everyone from “the team”. She has thouroughly enjoyed learning from Dr.Conrad over the years and is learning from Dr. Freeman as well. Working in a happy environment with an A+ team, doing what is the best for the pets and people, learning each day, and being a part of the lives of long known people and pets make each morning a pleasure to say “ I am going to work today”.
Sue is greeted each night by her two wonderful dogs: Sunni, a 12 year old rescued dog and Jessi, a four year old pup. Both dogs had a sad start to life, but are now enjoying life with Sue plus doggy daycare playdates at Precious Pets Luxury Resort. Sue also has four cats: Jeanni, Jazzi, Roger, and Doger who range in age of one to fourteen years.
Next time you see Sue, ask her if she has made a tool box for Dr. Conrad's son since she tends to "hoard" tools and needs to eliminate her duplicate tools. Besides making wooden items, Sue also likes to garden, fish, read non-fiction books and veterinary articles, complete Sudoku puzzles and crosswords, and one can't forget the "sappy" Lifetime movies.
Dawn was raised in Michigan and graduated from Macomb Community College as a veterinary technician in 2001. After graduating, she moved to Florida and began her career at SPAH in June of 2001.
She is married to Lee - J and they celebrated the birth of their first child Raina in 2011. They have another "child"...their dog Benny.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, hanging out with friends and family, going to BBQ's, and taking walks.
Amanda
Jill was born in Staten Island,NY, but moved to Palm Harbor, FL when she was four years old. She is fortunate to be surrounded by her family in the area and enjoys visits from her New York relatives.
Jill has two dogs: King, a chihuahua who really considers himself king of the household and Buddy, a pitbull who tolerates King's abuse.
Although Jill loves many things about her career, her favortie aspect of her job is the opportunity to work with the "big happy family" at SPAH. She also loves nursing animals back to good health. Five years later, after joining SPAH, Jill enjoys learning new information from the doctors, running bloodwork, taking xrays, and assisting the doctors.
When Jill is not working, she loves going to the beach or being in the pool. Her dog Buddy loves to swim at the beach while King would rather soak up the rays in a lounge chair watching all the activity. Buddy and King also enjoy trips to the park. Jill also enjoys spending time with her family and close friends.
Sarah is no stranger to animals after growing up on a farm in Lafayette, In. Sarah remains close to her family and says her cousins are like her siblings. She lives with her husband Jarrod and her brother John. Her pets include Willie (Shihtzu) who is her shadow; Butch, a blind Pomeranian who is full of life; Cleo, a "crabby old lady" cat who likes to talk a lot; and Parker, a kitten she hand raised from a kitten.
She loves helping animals recover from illnesses, educating clients on how to manage diseases, and being able to work "hands-on" with all the pets.
One of the things she enjoys about SPAH is the fun, family atmosphere. Sarah appreciates the time and compassion the doctors and staff spend with the clients and pets.
Sarah considers herself a sports fan (Go Hoosiers - Indiana University is her alma mater). Besides supporting the Tampa Bay teams, she enjoys reading, taking classes, board games, traveling, and spending time with family and friends and her animals.
Heather grew up in Gainesville, Georgia and then moved to South Carolina and Virgina. She loves her close and "crazy" family in Georgia. She and her husband own three cats with big personalities.
Each cat has a special story: Samantha was adopted from the SPCA and was given to her as a "wedding" gift from her husband. Emma was found in a dumpster by one of her old clients and was raised by the client, but Heather just had to have Emma. Dexter was also bottle fed and was lucky to find a home with Heather.
Heather loves helping animals and witnessing their strengths on a daily basis. She also enjoys sharing good news with the "moms and dads" of the pets. She also feels that Sunset Point is a family and enjoys feeling at home with a staff who looks out for the interest of the animals.
When she isn't working, she loves being outside...whether she is watching football with her husband (Go Gators!) or watching football. Another interest Heather has is reading a good book. She is glad to finally have some time to catch up on her reading.
