Sunset Point Animal Hospital

about
Background information about the initial opening of the hospital in 1976.

ABOUT

OUR CLINIC

Sunset Point Animal Hospital opened 40 years ago, in 1976, when Dr. Tom Tallon decided to locate a veterinary hospital on Sunset Point Road. Fast forward to 1992, when Dr. Richard Brutus purchased the practice and hired Dr. Kevin Conrad as an associate. The two doctors chartered the first spay and neuter program for the Humane Society of North Pinellas. Before becoming the sole owner in 1997, Dr. Conrad worked as a partner with Dr. Brutus.

Satisfied clients and happy pets brought Dr. Conrad to expand the clinic in 2008 from a two-exam room hospital to a five-exam room hospital. With everything going well, Dr. Chris Freeman joined the hospital in 2011, while Dr. Conrad phased out his private veterinary work to begin a career in the non-profit sector.

SERVICES

Stem cell therapy

WELLNESS EXAMS

We suggest a wellness exam every year for your pet to ensure quality care for your pet.

SURGERY

We provide many surgical options: spay & neuter; mass removals; eye surgeries; orthopedic procedures; bladder stone removal; gastrointestinal surgery; superficial digital flexor tenectomy (corn correction surgery), and regenerative medicine using stem cell therapy.

LABORATORY TESTING

We offer in-house bloodwork with results typically within two hours. We also offer urine testing, digital radiology, skin testing, eye testing, ear cytology, and extensive testing options with a reference laboratory.

EMERGENCY CARE

We provide emergency care during normal business hours. For after hour emergencies, we recommend Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Care.

DENTAL CARE

In addition to guidance about home dental care, we provide dental cleanings and tooth extractions.

MICROCHIPPING

We can implant permanent identification for your dogs and cats to ensure their safety. We often do this during their spay or neuter surgery, but it can be done during a routine appointment.

VACCINATIONS

We promote an individualized vaccine schedule instead of a "one-size-fits-all" approach. Each pet is unique... time and effort to tailor the vaccines to maximize your pet's safety and health is of utmost importance.

GROOMING

Our technicians provide expert care for ear cleaning, nail trims, anal gland expressions, and how to care for your pet's teeth at home.

SENIOR CARE

We desire to give your pet a long and happy life. As pets age, their needs also change. We suggest six-month exams for our senior citizen patients to catch disease in its earliest stages.

STEM CELL THERAPY

We use regenerative medicine to treat joint disease and a select number of organ failure diseases.
